It proposes the greening of the Brazilian financial system in order to indicate possible solutions so that it is possible to reach the goal of reducing greenhouse gases by 2120. The question is: how can the Central Bank of Brazil contribute to the mitigation of climate change? The overall objective is to suggest the application of green finance principles to the Brazilian Financial System. The specific objectives are to establish guidelines that can direct the actions of the Central Bank of Brazil in the process of greening the Brazilian financial system; indicate measures that collaborate with the reduction of polluting gas emissions; make recommendations for the adoption of a low-carbon economy. The method used to carry out the research was the bibliographical survey on the subject in order to verify how the changes in the financial systems of other countries are occurring with regard to the measures that are being implemented for the transition process for the greening of the economies. This enabled a reflection on measures for the decarbonization of the Brazilian Financial System, taking into account the particularities of the national context.
